Coaching Road Map

“Coaching is unlocking people’s potential to maximise their own performance”

Sir John Whitmore

Prior to your First Coaching Session

The coach will email you to discuss what you would like to gain from coaching. We will discuss the frequency of the sessions and whether you would like them to be via Teams, telephone, or face to face. Generally, 3 to 6 coaching sessions are recommended. Before coaching can commence, we will send you an ‘agreement’ which helps to formalise and clarify the process. Confidentiality is agreed between the coach and coachee in the agreement. The agreement needs to be signed before we can go ahead with the first coaching session. Please feel free to ask the coach any questions about things you are not sure about.

First Coaching Session

Prior to your first session start thinking about what you would like to achieve from the coaching process. Do not worry if your goals change as the coaching progresses or if new goals emerge. Coaching provides a supportive space where the coach can ‘listen with fascination’ (Nancy Kline) and empowers the coachee to find ‘within themselves’ a solution or way forwards. To maximise the power of the coaching session it is best if you can sit and have some quiet time prior to the meeting. This helps you to focus on the coaching process. A coaching session generally lasts 60 minutes.

Feedback please!

We will ask for formal feedback on the coaching process usually after the 3rd and 6th coaching session. Please let us know if you have suggestions to make each session ‘even better’ as the coaching progresses at any time! If you are not happy with any aspect of the coaching, please let us know as soon as possible and we will try to rectify things. If you would like to change to a different coach within the Cambridge Coaching Collective that is absolutely fine too.
